چکیده
Abstract In this study four kinds of biochars were prepared from the KOH modified biomass. As carbon precursors there was used sawdust following trees: oak, hornbeam, apple and cherry. The physicochemical properties materials characterized by N 2 adsorption, scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis (TG, DTG DTA), infrared spectroscopy, Boehm’s titration method. Moreover, pH pzc (the point zero charge) determined. adsorption capacity temperature-programmed desorption ammonia also studied. obtained activated large specific surface area (672 to 912 m /g) total pore volume (0.30 0.4 cm 3 as well well-developed microporous structure (85–97%). These observations confirmed SEM analysis. maximum NH biochar determined be 3.05 mmol/g. results prove that various origins is appropriate prepare a cost-effective, environmentally friendly biochar.

Activated carbon was prepared through chemical activation of lignin from a straw pulping precursor, using K2CO3 and KOH as chemical agents. To optimize the preparation method, the effect of the main process parameters (such as impregnation ratio, activation temperature and activation time) on the performance of the obtained activated carbon (expressed in terms of iodine number and yield of acti...
متن کاملCharacterization and Properties of Activated Carbon Prepared from Tamarind Seeds by KOH Activation for Fe(III) Adsorption from Aqueous Solution
This research studies the characterization of activated carbon from tamarind seed with KOH activation. The effects of 0.5 : 1-1.5 : 1 KOH : tamarind seed charcoal ratios and 500-700°C activation temperatures were studied. FTIR, SEM-EDS, XRD, and BET were used to characterize tamarind seed and the activated carbon prepared from them. Proximate analysis, percent yield, iodine number, methylene bl...
متن کاملAdsorption Studies of Coconut Shell Carbons Prepared by KOH Activation for Removal of Lead(II) From Aqueous Solutions
Removal of Pb 2+ from aqueous solutions using coconut shell carbons produced by KOH activation is performed in this paper. Morphology and pore structure characteristic of coconut shell carbons are analyzed by SEM and nitrogen adsorption techniques. Effects of adsorbent concentration, agitation time and initial ion concentration on the adsorption behavior are investigated, and adsorption isother...
متن کاملInvestigation of the adsorption-reduction mechanisms of hexavalent chromium by ramie biochars of different pyrolytic temperatures.
To investigate the relationship between Cr(VI) adsorption mechanisms and physio-chemical properties of biochar, ramie residues were oxygen-limited pyrolyzed under temperature varying from 300 to 600°C. Batch adsorption experiments indicated that higher pyrolysis temperature limits Cr(VI) sorption in terms of capacity and affinity due to a higher aromatic structure and fewer polar functional gro...
